At Taaleri we seize the broad variety investment opportunities that renewable energy offers because financial profitability is the most effective way to steer capital to the best environmental solutions.
At Taaleri we have shaped our strategy by making environmental issues part of our business operations, already for many years. We want to help our customers to prepare for changes in the environment and offer new investment opportunities. An investor in Taaleri’s energy funds can combine the financial targets of investing with the principles of responsible investing.
Finnish and international renewable energy projects based mainly on solar and wind power are at the core of the Energia segment. By networking with the best players we are able to leverage the global opportunities offered by advanced energy technologies.
In all the renewable energy projects, responsibility factors are a focus, for example, when we are choosing target areas and local partners. The investment activities of Taaleri SolarWind, the Energia segment’s first globally investing renewable energy fund, started during 2017. Big Finnish institutions interested in renewable energy opportunities also joined in as investors. The fund is an excellent reference as we compete for new international projects in renewable energy.
Taaleri SolarWind made its first investments in renewable energy projects in Serbia and Jordan. In both projects we collaborate with Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s national investment company, which is one of the world’s biggest companies investing in renewable energy.
Taaleri Energia’s newest international renewable energy fund, Taaleri SolarWind II, raised commitments of EUR 220 million in its first close. The Taaleri SolarWind II fund is targeting EUR 300 million and has an agreed hard cap of EUR 400 million.
Fund investors include, e.g., the European Investment Bank, Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, and a wide range of pension funds, foundations and family-owned companies. Also a significant number of private individuals have invested in the fund through the Taaleri SolarWind II feeder fund managed by Taaleri Private Equity Funds Ltd. At the end of the review period the fund made decisions to invest in wind farms in Finland and Norway.
